Week 4 was a big one. With the help of our friend Tom, we removed the rest of the old cabinets, opened up the wall between the kitchen and dining room and ripped up the 4+ layers of linolium in the part of the kitchen that will get cabinets. We'll tackle the other half later.

During the 3rd week of our remodel job, Ames and I focused on tearing out the old upper cabinets and scrapping off the old popcorn ceiling.

Amy's last cake before tearing out the old kitchen was an impressive one. Rather than one large cake, she made a bunch of individual-serving baby block cakes. The shower was for Pedro and Linda's baby boy - Pedro Josue.

Week 2 was spent assembling most of the cabinet boxes, affixing hardware to the doorfronts, and removing all the old cabinet doors.

We've been talking about it since we moved into our house, and now the time has arrived. We're remodeling our outdated kitchen. On Saturday, June 2nd, we woke up at 5:30am to get down to Ikea to order our cabinets. The entire project will take several weeks but this gallery will be a running view of where we're at.

Jenna and Vince's wedding...

Amy has been baking up a storm over the last few weeks. Not only did she do two cakes back to back, but she has been practicing tons of cookie and cupcake recipes getting ready for Jenna's wedding next week. Here are some of the products of her experiments.

Amy made an awesome cake for Eirini's birthday...

Amy's sister Alina came up to visit us and participate in the Charleston Bridge Run. We had a great time hanging out, checking out the SC Aquarium, making pottery and a whole lot of other stuff! Pnut and I finished the race in an hour and two minutes. Amy and Adriana were walk/running together and made it in not far behind us at 1:36.

As a webdesigner, the biggest professional gathering each year is South by Southwest Interactive in Austin, Texas. I've been wanting to go for the last couple years, and initally decided against it again this year, but changed my mind at the last minute with the prospect of promoting my book and meeting all the people whose website screenshots I used in it.
