Red Onion Bloom

Home Improvement, Spring

If you’ve ever wondered what the flower of a red onion looks like, check this out. A few months ago, we had a red onion that didn’t get used in time and started growing. I was about to throw it out, but on a whim I stuck a few bamboo skewers in it and positioned it in a glass so that about half of it was under water. After a little while it started growing roots and before long it grew out of it’s glass. I guess it was in soil for about a month before it shot up two long stalks which just recently bloomed.Amy took this picture of one of the blooms a while ago, but I just saw it and thought it was one of the coolest photos I’d seen in a while.

As I was looking at the detail, I noticed something kinda funny. A little teeny, tiny little spider. The flower itself is no bigger than a quarter so this guy was definitely small. Check him out:

Crazy huh? I love our new camera.
